HULU SELANGOR: Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) has rubbished claims that Perlis Mentri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli was arrested, adding that the latter was merely giving a statement to the police.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is PAS deputy president, also accused news reports of sensationalising the matter.
“He was not even arrested. This is sensational news and we at PAS will never stop any investigations and the Perlis MB has given his statement.
“His office is open ’25 hours’, day and night, to be investigated. We are open,” he said during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah on Thursday (May 2) night.
Mohd Shukri was recently grilled by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of power abuse involving his son and himself.
Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim announced that the entire PAS machinery has been mobilised in Kuala Kubu Baru to secure a victory for the Perikatan candidate.
“They’ve arrived without demanding any financial contribution from the party. No compensation claims have been made, not even for the cost of their travel. At PAS, we embody the principle of self-sufficiency,” he said.
Concerns arose following the noticeable absence of senior PAS leaders on Nomination Day for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election on April 27, leading to speculations of PAS boycotting the Perikatan candidate.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan was expected to attend a Perikatan political talk last Tuesday but did not appear.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, the chief of Selangor Perikatan, expressed uncertainty regarding Takiyuddin’s absence.
“We typically have a roster of leaders prepared to participate, and if for some reason, they can’t make it, there are many others who can step in. The campaign still has 10 nights remaining,” he told reporters.
