Meghan Markle is facing fresh criticism from Lady Colin Campbell, after reports claim the royal has “asked Netflix” to step in to help run her latest lifestyle business.
The Duchess of Sussex has claimed to have asked the streaming giants to help run her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, as she continues to produce projects with the company.
However, a California-based source close to Netflix has claimed the search has “not panned out so far”.
Speaking to GBN America, Lady C stated that the royals should “not be using Netflix as a shopping channel”, and the company should “stick to making films and television”.

In discussion with host Nana Akua, Lady Campbell admitted she “doesn’t see how Netflix can be in the business of stocking items” for sale.
The socialite and royal commentator also revealed that she was once approached by fashion designer Arnold Scaasi to host a shopping channel.
Lady C told GBNA: “Many years ago, Arnold Scaasi tried to get me to do something on the shopping channel. And for every item that is for sale, you need to already have a full stock of it in case it is successful.
“So I don’t see that Netflix is in the business of stocking items.”

Detailing the “involved” process of being a shopping channel, Lady C hit out at the idea of a company such as Netflix branching out into merchandising.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Lady C told Nana: “You have to have the items all prepared, then you are ready to go. They have to be in warehouses. There’s a whole process that is extremely involved and requires a great financial outlay.
“And I’m sorry, Netflix is not a merchandising entity, it’s not the shopping channel.”
Discussing the relationship between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Netflix, Lady C suggested the main driving factor of a possible partnership would be if the Sussexes were “filming something” as a result of the deal.
She added: “It makes films, it makes television shows, so I can’t see how they can be in business with them, except for filming something. But that doesn’t make sense either, because it has to be done through a shopping channel or an end.

“I suppose Netflix could end up being the equivalent of the merchandise or the shopping channel, but they’re not going to put up the tens and tens of millions that would be required to have stock in place for the many items that a right oik is going to be offering.”
Shedding doubt on Meghan’s brand, American Riviera Orchard, Nana Akua said the Duchess will need “a lot of money” to make it work.
Nana told Lady C: “A lot of people are saying there’s a lot of skepticism about this whole brand, which I think she’s envisaging. Meghan Markle’s envisaging that it might be a bit like Goop and end up being a big selling brand, but I just I don’t see it.
“She’s going to need a lot of money, she’s going to need a lot of people behind her. And I think the Netflix idea was more of a sort of promotional thing, so they might help to promote it, but then if it goes wrong, she’ll blame them.”
