Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix has indeed arrived as one of the biggest and much-loved show. Set against the backdrop of Lahore which was a part of pre-Independence India, the period drama about courtesans is being hailed for its larger-than-life sets, SLB’s signature style filmmaking trademark, and music. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who made his web-series debut with this show, has won hearts of audiences including several celebrities who poured in their love and positive reviews on social media. The eight episodic web-series on Netflix, which is streaming across 190 countries from May 1 onwards, stars Manisha Koirala as the lead courtesan with Aditi Rao Hydari and Sharmin Segal playing her two daughters, Sonakshi Sinha essaying the character of her niece, Richa Chadha as her adopted daughter, and Sanjeeda Sheikh as her youngest sister. The web-series also has Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Fardeen Khan, and Taha Shah Badussha as the Nawabs along with a series of ensemble cast playing other roles.
