Mitchell Starc said that he is happy to get back into the rhythm of T20 cricket once again, having not played a lot of games in the shortest format over the past few years. Starc made his return to the IPL this year with KKR and after a slow start, has seemingly found his feet in the competition.
Starc has picked 12 wickets from 10 matches, including a 4-wicket haul against MI at the Wankhede stadium. The pacer will be part of Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup and talked to the broadcasters ahead of the KKR vs MI clash.
KKR vs MI: Updates
Starc said it was nice to get back into the rhythm of T20 cricket and would have been great if he had made a better start to the campaign.
“I haven’t actually played a lot of T20 cricket in the last 8-9 years, so it’s nice to get back into the rhythm of T20 cricket . Would have been nice to get a better start to the tournament but it has been good to contribute in the last couple of games,” said Starc.
Interesting year for KKR
KKR are currently at the top of the points table ahead of the clash against MI and Starc called it an interesting year for them in the IPL. The pacer said that there have been discussions about finishing in the top two this season.
Starc also said that KKR can be a bit better with the ball.
“We’re going alright, been an interesting year. We’ve had a stretch at home and then games away, nice to be back home now. It’s important to get that second chance, you get that big break before the final, certainly spoke about it at training the other day so that we finish in that top 2. You certainly need a bit of luck with the ball, especially with the impact player rule and the sizes of the grounds. Salt and Sunil (Narine) have been fantastic at the top of the order. There’s been some fantastic batting but with the ball, it could be a little bit better,” said Starc.
After the MI game, KKR will be on the road and face GT and RR in their final two league games.
