The Karnataka Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged sexual abuse of women by suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, on Sunday, arrested two men in connection with the leak and circulation of obscene videos involving Hassan MP.
Chetan and Likith Gowda are BJP workers who were taken to their residences in Yelagunda and Shravanabelagola respectively, after their arrest for a spot inquest.
They underwent medical tests before being produced in court last evening.
Pen-drives containing the alleged explicit videos involving Prajwal Revanna, were circulated a few days ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in the state on April 26.
Numerous flash drives with more than 2,900 videos, purportedly recorded by sitting Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna himself, were distributed across his constituency. Hassan district went to the polls in the first phase.
These graphic videos, which eventually found their way onto social media platforms, triggered public outcry and put Karnataka politics on the boil.
While the Congress government has formed a SIT to probe the cases, the BJP and JD(S) — NDA partners — have demanded that it be handed over to the CBI, and action against those behind the circulation of explicit videos. The BJP and JD(S) leaders have alleged the role of Congress leaders behind the circulation of explicit videos.
