Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll have filed for divorce just days before the start of the PGA Championship.
The filing in a Florida court comes seven years after the couple married in 2017.
The reason for the split remains unknown, according to TMZ.
McIlroy’s team confirmed the news in a statement, adding: “Rory’s desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible.
“He won’t be making any further comment.”

McIlroy and Stoll have one child together – Poppy Kennedy McIlroy – who was born in 2020.
In 2015, the golf star proposed to Stoll in Paris, France.
The couple has largely chosen to keep their private life away from the public eye.
The split comes just two days after the Northern Irishman won the Wells Fargo Championship for the fourth time on Sunday.

He secured victory ahead of Xander Schauffele to add to his haul, having previously won the competition in 2010, 2015 and 2021.
McIlroy is among the favourites to win the PGA Championship at Valhalla, Kentucky – which kicks off in just three days.
The 35-year-old previously revealed he has got his sights set on winning another major.
He said: “I’ve been sort of banging this drum for the last few years, but I’m a way better player now than I was back then.

“I haven’t had the major record to back that up, but I’ve had the wins, I’ve done everything else there is to do in the game since 2014.
“The only thing I need to do is get another major.
“You know, a win like this going into the PGA Championship next week is a good way to prep for that.”
