A 17-year-old P-plater is in police custody after a pedestrian was allegedly hit and killed in Sydney’s south, with the teen’s Ford Falcon later found parked in a nearby street, sporting a vulgar bumper sticker.
Around 10.40pm on Tuesday police were called to an intersection at Bexley in Sydney’s south after the 38-year-old male pedestrian was allegedly hit by the blue sedan.
Members of the public performed CPR until paramedics arrived, however the man could not be saved. He died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
Police arrived and found the blue Ford Falcon parked on nearby Downey Street with the windshield smashed in, and a white bumper sticker on the back with the offensive text “I drive like a c—”.
The driver, who was also the sole occupant of the car, suffered minor injuries in the crash. He was arrested and taken to St George Hospital for treatment and for mandatory testing.
The teenager remains under police guard but has not been charged.
Specialist officers from the NSW Police crash investigation unit have examined the crime scene and are investigating the circumstances around the crash, given the significant damage to the car.
The Ford Falcon was taken by police for forensic examination.
