‘Putting on a clinic’: Veteran’s vintage show spurring hosts against plucky Crows — LIVE AFL – MASHAHER

Adelaide looks to keep its fading season alive as it does battle with in-form reigning premiers Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies (5-3-1, 108.0%) have won four of their past five games, including last Sunday’s belting of the West Coast Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Crows (3-5-1, 101.6%) are coming off a draw against Brisbane and are aiming to get back on the winners’ list.

The Pies are bolstered by the returns of gun midfielder Jordan De Goey and pressure forward Lachie Schultz, while defender Jeremy Howe (groin) and onballer Jack Bytel (concussion protocols) went out of Craig McRae’s side on Thursday night.

Matthew Nicks recalled Lachie Murphy and Will Hamill in place of Josh Worrell (forearm) and Daniel Curtin (omitted).

Collingwood has won its past eight games (6-0 since 2020) against Adelaide, who hasn’t beaten the Magpies at the MCG since Round 18, 2014.

The Crows have also gone 0-4 at the MCG since the start of 2020, while the Pies have been 33-2-19 (61%) at the home of football in the same period.

Adelaide is also known as Kuwarna this weekend, the Kaurna translation for the word ‘crows’.

The game gets underway at 1:45pm from the MCG.

Watch it live on Fox Footy (channel 504), streaming on Kayo or via Hubbl, from 1pm.

ROLLING MATCH UPDATES

Final teams are in for today’s clash at the MCG! There are no late changes, and Harvey Harrison (Collingwood) and Ned McHenry (Adelaide) are the starting substitutes.

Veteran Scott Pendlebury snagged Collingwood’s first of the afternoon as he streamed in from straight in front.

The Crows have looked to be aggressive by foot in the early going, but it hasn’t paid off to this point.

Fox Footy’s Jack Riewoldt described Craig McRae’s decision to put Steele Sidebottom behind the ball as a “masterstroke”.

Nick Daicos has already had eight disposals and is presently running unopposed.

Brayden Cook slammed home Adelaide’s second after marking in the goalsquare.

Pendlebury responded with his second goal of the quarter — he’d only kicked two for the season to this point! He’s also got nine first-term disposals. Pies by a point late in the first.

“He’s putting on a clinic,” Melbourne legend Garry Lyon said of Pendlebury as he drilled a ball inside-50 to the chest of Will Hoskin-Elliott, who booted Collingwood’s third of the first quarter.

Jordan De Goey got in on the action late in the period, saluting from long distance to cement Collingwood’s seven-point quarter-time advantage.
