The Roos’ inability to maintain their standard has been an issue this year and they do it again as Essendon kicks eight goals to two, including the last five of the third term, to take a 45-point lead into three-quarter-time.
It was all-too-easy at times for the Dons that quarter, with Peter Wright dominating aerially and kicking two of his four goals for the day.
Jake Stringer joined the party, too, with his first two goals, including a superb long-range strike that barely crossed the line. Jye Caldwell continued his strong afternoon and now has eight clearances to go with his 18 disposals.
