Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh wants to see Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhri face-off in the final of the Indian Premier League 2024. Notably, Gambhir’s KKR became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing season and are ranked on the top spot on the points table with 19 points from 13 games. On the other hand, Kohli’s RCB became the last team to qualify following their win over CSK and finished on the fourth spot with 14 points.
With the top four teams confirmed, Harbhajan gave his prediction for the two finalists for the competition and said that RCB and KKR are likely to play in the summit clash. The former off-spinner also said that Bengaluru can go on to win the trophy and will be tough to stop from here onwards.

“I feel that RCB and KKR will play the final. If that happens Kohli and Gambhir will be back to face each other. RCB can win the trophy from this point, they have fought hard for each run. If they play with this energy then it will be hard to stop this team,” Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.
Kohli and Gambhir had previously been at loggerheads with each other having had two altercations in the history of IPL. The first one came in 2013 during RCB vs KKR Match 12 of the season when Gambhir gave a send-off to Kohli after his dismissal which didn’t go down well with the then-RCB skipper. The duo was involved in a heating exchange and had to be separated by other players.
The second instance came during RCB vs LSG Match 43 of IPL 2023 when Gambhir, who was the mentor of LSG, lashed out at Kohli for his verbal spat with LSG seamer Naveen-ul-Haq. The incident became the most talked about moment of IPL 2023 and the BCCI also had to take strict action against both parties by imposing heavy fines.
Kohli and Gambhir sorted out their differences
However, ever since that incident, the duo has sorted out their differences which was evident in their earlier meeting during RCB vs KKR Match 10 of the ongoing season. Kohli and Gambhir were seen having a fun chat where they also embraced each other and brushed aside all of their differences.
Meanwhile, if KKR and RCB lock horns in the final, the former will have an upper hand heading into the fixture having beaten RCB 20 times out of the 34 games played between two teams. However, the road to finals will be tougher for RCB as they will have to win the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 to seal their spot in the summit clash while KKR can qualify by winning Qualifier 1 itself.
