Jurgen Klopp started singing a chant on reported new Liverpool Arne Slot, with the fans in attendance at Anfield for his last game as the Reds manager on May 19. Klopp took the sideline for the final time for Liverpool in their clash against Wolves on Sunday, which was also their last game of the 2023-2024 Premier League season. After guiding the side to a 2-0 victory, the German manager made the massive crowd at Anfield join in to sing, what was and edited version of his own chant with Slot’s name.
As Klopp calls time on his 9-year-long stint with the Merseyside club, current Feyenoord manager, Slot, is all but confirmed by Liverpool to take over the reign in the side from next season. Now, the gesture from Klopp has only added a notion of assurance about the move which will see a new era take place at Liverpool. The speculation around the new Reds manager reached sky-high when Slot himself confirmed his move to the club in his last press-conference as Feyenoord manager.
Since arriving at Liverpool as a replacement for Brendan Rogers in 2015, Klopp has turned the side into one of the top sides in Europe after guiding them to 9 major trophies in his tenure. Klopp’s achievements at the club also include the 2019 UEFA Champions League title, and a 30-year-long awaited Premier League title in the following year.
Arnie Slot guided Feyenoord to the 2022-2023 Eredivisie title with an emphatic 82-points finish. The brilliant performance saw the Dutch manager saw him become a reported managerial target for the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs and Leeds United.
