An NRL player is reportedly set to be cleared of any wrongdoing after a serious allegation against the Queensland-based star was withdrawn.

The Courier Mail reports that the player will not be charged by police after a woman withdrew her claim that she was digitally raped.

Police attended the player’s residence on the eve of last week’s Magic Round to discuss the alleged rape incident.

The player’s NRL club had been made aware of the allegation and believe the player’s account that no sexual assault took place.

It is understood that both the player and the woman were drinking on the night in question according to The Courier Mail.

For legal reasons, the player can’t be named.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told The Courier Mail on Wednesday that despite the woman withdrawing her complaint, the investigation hasn’t been closed yet.

“The Queensland Police Service is investigating a sexual assault complaint relating to an incident on the Gold Coast on Tuesday, May 14, 2024,” the spokesperson said.

“Investigations into this matter are ongoing. As is routine in such investigations, no further specific comment will be made at this time.”
