287, lowest total in final: SRH’s rollercoaster batting performance in IPL 2024 – MASHAHER

SRH’s rollercoaster batting performance in IPL 2024 was perfectly encapsulated on Sunday, May 26 as they were completely bowled over by KKR in the final in Chennai. Hyderabad was known for their big-hitting this season with the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen scoring at a rapid rate. They had broken the highest total in the history of the IPL twice during the season.

The first one was against MI when they scored 277 runs in Hyderabad before going one better during the match against RCB when they hit 287 at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. Head had scored 567 runs while Abhishek complimented him with 484 runs at the other end. However, on May 26, it was a completely different story for SRH.

After having won the toss, SRH was out for revenge against KKR, after they had completely dominated them in Qualifier 1. Having been the most dangerous outfit while batting first, they decided to back their strength on the day and took to the crease first.

IPL 2024 Final, KKR vs SRH: Live Score

How did SRH capitulate against KKR?

SRH struggled from the very first over as they lost Abhishek for just 2 runs as Mitchell Starc cleaned him up with a stunning delivery. Head would then get dismissed for a duck in the very next over. KKR bowlers were all over the SRH batters from that point onwards as Hyderabad struggled to get any momentum on the day.

Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram departed trying to play counter-attacking shots. The wickets kept on tumbling at the other end with Heinrich Klaasen being the key man. However, the South African had a failure on the day, after chopping on to the stumps.

Pat Cummins’ knock of 24 was the highest score by a SRH batter on the day as they were bundled out for just 113 runs. This was the lowest total by a team in the history of an IPL final.
