PV Sindhu upbeat despite Malaysia Masters final loss: Lot of positives to take – MASHAHER

PV Sindhu said she is upbeat despite her loss in final of the Malaysia Masters on May 26, Sunday. Sindhu lost to World No.7 Wang Zhi Yi in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday despite putting up a fighting effort. Sindhu started with a win but eventually lost 21-16, 5-21, 16-21 in 79 minutes.

Sinhu’s loss came after a fantastic week of badminton from the Indian ace, where she defeated top seed Hang Yue in the quarterfinal and pulled off a stunning comeback win against her familiar foe Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the semi-finals. Speaking after the match on Sunday, Sindhu said she should have won the match and will take a lot of positives from the bout. The Indian ace said she was happy to be in the finals.

“Yeah, it’s sad that I didn’t get the result that I expected. I think I should have pulled it off, maintaining the lead (in Game 3), but there were really good rallies and she also came back. And overall I can say that it is, it’s been a very good match. I mean, it’s a bit disappointing, but a lot of positives to take from this match and the whole tournament as well. I am happy that I least came to the finals. I played well, these these matches will definitely give me a lot of confidence,” said Sindhu.

Gives me a lot of confidence

This was Sindhu’s first final of the year and she said the effort gives her a lot of confidence. The Indian ace said she will now go back to the drawing board and prepare for the upcoming assignments.

“Definitely, after a long time, coming to the finals is a positive thing. It gives me a lot of confidence. Of course, I go back and see what improvements to be done and discuss with my coach. And of course prepare for Singapore, it’s not just over with this tournament. So it’s important to get back and maybe just a day off and then be prepared for the next tournament. It’s important that you keep pumping up, you keep pushing yourself, you keep encouraging yourself in these low times That’s what I can do now at the moment.”

“I mean, it is disappointing, but it is also important to just cheer myself up and, just focus and relax and prepare for the next tournament,” said Sindhu.

Sindhu will be aiming to win her 3rd Olympic medal in Paris this year.
