Mohini Dubey, the wife of retired IAS officer Devendra Nath Dubey, was on Saturday found dead at their Lucknow house was reportedly robbed, police said.
DN Dubey had gone to play golf but when he returned home, he found his house unlocked from inside and saw that his wife was lying dead on the floor, with a noose around her neck, they added.
Former District Magistrate of Rae Bareli, DN Dubey also told police that some jewellery and other valuables were stolen as he saw the almirah open and a lot of other items strewn on the floor.
The incident took place at a posh colony in Sector 22 in Indira Nagar area of Lucknow.
“When DN Dubey came back after playing golf at around 9.45 in the morning, he found his wife dead. The vendor supplied milk at around 7.15, which was not even boiled and found packed as it was. This was when he informed us”, Lucknow Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Akash Kulhary said.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem. Four teams of our Crime Branch, apart from the dog squad, and a forensic team reached the crime scene. Interrogations are also going on. We cannot say anything for sure prima facie and will only be able to confirm the cause of death after the post-mortem report is received”, he added.
The police also said that the miscreants ripped off the CCTV-DVR system and took it away with them, fearing it might help the police in tracing them. However, the police are looking through other CCTV cameras installed across the high-end locality to track them down.
“We are investigating all possible aspects in the case. It is an open-ended investigation at this point”, the senior cop added.
