A day after “All Eyes on Rafah” went viral on social media, sparking a barrage of criticism of Israel, the Jewish nation came up with its own counter phrase – “Where were your eyes on October 7”. Through the phrase, Israel questioned why its detractors did not raise concern over Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Nearly 1,200 Israeli citizens were killed in the surprise Hamas attack and several were taken hostage.
Taking to X, Israel shared a photo with the text: “Where were your eyes on October 7”. The picture shows a militant with a rifle standing in front of a baby.
Israel’s response came after several celebrities, public figures, and countless social media users shared the AI-generated ‘All eyes on Rafah’ image to draw everyone’s attention to Israel’s air strikes in Rafah, a city in war-torn Gaza.
Following Hamas’ attack on October 7, several Israeli hostages were freed during a ceasefire that lasted for a week in November last year. Israel has claimed that 99 hostages are still held by the militants, with 31 reported dead.
Israel’s military action aimed at dismantling Hamas has resulted in the deaths of at least 31,112 Palestinians, as reported by the health ministry in Gaza.
Despite widespread criticism, Israel has denied allegations of targeting the Rafah camp, attributing the damage to a secondary fire caused by a rocket striking a Hamas weapons facility.
