STAUNTON — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has identified an electrical contractor who was killed last week after falling from a bucket truck.

The incident took place Friday, May 24, in the 100 block of Sugar Loaf Road. The victim was identified as Phillip J. Sandridge Jr., 48, of Waynesboro.

“He was replacing old utility poles,” said Lt. Leslie Snyder, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. “He fell out of the bucket truck while he was replacing a pole.”

Snyder said a report estimated Sandridge fell 25 feet. He worked for P&S Electric, a Waynesboro company he founded with his father in 2003, his obituary said.

Sandridge is survived by his wife, four children and two step-children.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on June 4 at the Blue Ridge Chapel in Waynesboro, according to the obituary.
