BENGALURU: Karnataka govt on Friday formed an SIT to probe alleged irregularities into the Rs 90-crore scam involving Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation and Union Bank of India.
The four-member SIT will be headed by CID‘s additional DGP (Economic Offences) Manish Kharbikar. The team is to submit its report to the govt at the earliest. Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara said the CM will take a call on future of state welfare minister B Nagendra if the scam indeed occurred under his watch.
Sources said a CBI probe into the case was expected as the scam size runs into crores of rupees.Union Bank of India has already lodged a complaint with the central agency. However, the state govt on Friday set up the SIT in what’s widely seen as a bid to pre-empt a CBI probe.
