Shyam Benegal’s classic film Manthan is set for a theatrical re-release on June 1 and 2 across various cities in India, following an impressive reception at Cannes 2024. The 1976 film, featuring an ensemble cast including Amrish Puri, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Girish Karnad, Anant Nag and Kulbhushan Kharbanda will be screened in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Anand, Rajkot, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh.

Expressing his excitement about the re-release, Vardhan Puri, the grandson of the legendary actor Amrish Puri, shared his enthusiasm. “It’s going to be a grand and special occasion for all of us. Manthan is a classic produced by the Amul Dairy Cooperative initiative and directed by veteran film director Shyam Benegal sir. It’s one of my favourite performances of my grandfather, and as a grandson, the more opportunities I get to watch my grandfather on the big screen, the wider my soul smiles,” Vardhan said.
Reflecting on the personal significance of the film, Vardhan added, “I feel very blessed that whenever I miss my grandfather, I can play a movie and watch him in front of me. It’s going to be a grand day, and special love and regards to Shivendra Singh Dungarpur for restoring the film and organizing this beautiful premiere with so much grace and warmth. I can’t wait to attend the premiere and find myself in the august company of film industry stalwarts and legends who will grace the premiere. I am looking forward to meeting Shyam Benegal sir and taking his blessings. My love and best wishes to the entire cast and crew of the film. As I always say, see you again at the movies!”
Known for his remarkable performances in films like Yeh Saali Aashiqui, Aseq, and the recent Dashmi, the young promising star continues to make waves in the industry. His upcoming project, Bloody Ishq, co-starring Avika Gor of Balika Vadhu fame and directed by Vikram Bhatt and written by Mahesh Bhatt, is eagerly anticipated.
But Bloody Ishq is just the beginning of what promises to be a bustling year for Vardhan. With several projects lined up, including the romantic comedy Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story, directed by Kunal Kohli for Jio Studios, and a thriller set in North India produced by Endemol India, Vardhan is set to entertain audiences once again with his charm and talent.
