Acclaimed filmmaker Mohit Suri gave an interesting, in-depth interview to Tarsame Mittal of The Music Podcast wherein he spoke about his musical journey. He also ended up sharing some fascinating trivia.
“Emraan Hashmi has never interfered in the music process; NO ONE can lip sync better than him” – Mohit Suri
Mohit Suri and Emraan Hashmi’s success is correlated. Both have worked together on several films and delivered several hit songs. Mohit Suri said, “If Emraan tells me, I’ll work with him the next day. We are not just an actor-director duo. We are also cousins. He was that brother with whom you’d watch a horror film in the afternoon while growing up. My sister (Ssmilly Suri) grew up in his house. We realized that we both had the same perspective about films. And nothing can be more important than the actor and director’s sensibility matching.”
He continued, “I can lie to other actors that ‘Yeh role tere liye best hai’. I can’t do the same to Emraan, especially if the role is not the best for him (laughs). He has been my first hero and I have done the maximum films with him. My tuning with him is such that while directing him, I can be standing far away and yet, I explain to him through gestures what I want exactly. And he’ll understand.”
Mohit admitted, “It’s often said that Emraan Hashmi’s films have hit songs. But he has never interfered in the music process. His only request is – if it’s a lip-sync song, it should be sent to him a day before the shoot so that he can lip-sync it well. I have worked with several actors but no one can lip sync better than him. He makes the song better.”
He stated, “Emraan never said ‘Yeh gaana mere liye accha hai ya bura hai’. Maybe, because of that, he gets the best songs. He never even overanalyses. You can tell him something and he’ll do it. He believes that the director knows best. Hence, it’s brilliant to work with him.”
