The hotel will be closed until further notice due to significant damage.

The Department of Communities has set up an evacuation centre at Bunbury’s South West Sports Centre.

Those attending the evacuation centre have been warned to exercise ‘extreme caution’ when travelling in the wider Bunbury area due to multiple hazards including downed powerlines, trees and other debris.

A number of roads, including Forrest Highway, have been impacted by debris.

Daryn Rowland from Bunbury Fire Station told ABC Perth said there were 10 people inside the hotel at the time.

“Luckily, they have all escaped, a few minor injuries,” he said.

“There is also significant damage to other buildings in this area from this freak weather event.
