Last year, the Indian market saw a surge of foldable phones with the introduction of models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlus Open, and Oppo Find N2 Flip. These devices were well-received by tech enthusiasts. Now, Vivo is set to join the foldable phone trend in India. Recently, the company teased the launch of its first foldable phone in India, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which features AI capabilities. The phone will debut in India on June 6.
Vivo India had announced the launch date on their official X handle saying, “Meet the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. This is more than just another fold phone. This is India’s best fold ever. It’s slimmer, lighter, brighter, bigger, and more powerful than any other fold phone you’ve seen before. Stay tuned.” Accompanying the announcement was a teaser video, which revealed the launch date at its conclusion.
Additionally, Vivo confirmed this date on their microsite. Interestingly, the launch date appeared on the microsite first, leading to speculation that it was revealed accidentally before the official announcement followed hours later.
Vivo X Fold 3 Pro: Availability and Pricing
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Vivo India’s online store, and offline retail channels. Priced at 9,999 yuan in China, which is approximately Rs 1.17 lakh, it is expected to be priced under Rs 1.5 lakh in India. The phone, as mentioned already, will be launched in India on June 6.
What to Expect from the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, initially introduced in March 2023, will be Vivo’s first foldable phone launch outside China. The Indian version is expected to mirror its global counterpart in terms of specifications. Leaks and rumours have provided a glimpse of the phone’s potential features.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro might be the first foldable phone to feature a Carbon Fibre Keel component in its hinge mechanism. This technology helps keep the device lightweight and durable. TUV Rheinland testing has confirmed that the device can withstand up to 500,000 folds, equating to around 12 years of usage.
The phone will sport dual displays: a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.03-inch inner Amoled LTPO folding display, both offering a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with peak brightness reaching 4,500 nits.
An earlier teaser from Vivo highlighted the use of ZEISS optics in the camera system and showcased the phone’s lightweight design, which weighs just 236 grams and is 11.2mm thick when folded, thanks to the 14.98-gram carbon fiber hinge.
Powering the X Fold 3 Pro is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, along with an Adreno GPU for enhanced graphics performance. The device may offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. It is likely to run on OriginOS 4, based on Android 14, right out of the box.
For photography enthusiasts, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is anticipated to feature a sophisticated camera setup, including a 50-megapixel ultra-sensing primary camera with OIS, a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 32-megapixel front camera is expected to cater to selfies and video calls. The device is also likely to be equipped with a 5,700mAh battery.
