With the counting for Lok Sabha polls 2024 underway, leads are in and have some big surprises, including a close contest on key seats in some states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
In Maharashtra, there is a near-close contest between the BJP-led NDA and the INDIA bloc, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP.
At the time of writing this report, the NDA is leading on 24 seats, while the INDIA bloc is ahead on 20 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. However, the BJP is significantly ahead of Congress with a lead on 20 seats, while the Congress is moving forward on 9.
In one of the most nail-biting close contests being witnessed in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP-led NDA is leading on 39 seats, while the INDIA bloc is slightly ahead with a lead on 40 seats.
Of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP, the BJP is trailing on 25, while the INDIA bloc is ahead on 34 seats.
Karnataka is seeing a two-cornered contest between the BJP-JD(S) coalition and the Congress. While Congress is ahead on 11 seats, the BJP-JD(S) are leading on 17 of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies.
