Francis Ford Coppola reacts to inappropriate conduct allegations on Megalopolis set – MASHAHER

Acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola, who is known for making The Godfather films, has been accused of behaving inappropriately on the sets of his new film, Adam Driver-starrer Megalopolis. Coppola reacted to the allegations and said he is ‘not touchy-feely.’

Speaking to the New York Times, the filmmaker said, “My mother told me that if you make an advance towards a woman, it means you disrespect her, and the girls I had crushes on, I certainly didn’t disrespect them.” When asked about a photo which is being widely circulated on the internet in which he is seen kissing a ‘girl’, the director said the photo was taken by the ‘girl’s father.’ “I’m not touchy-feely. I’m too shy,” Coppola additionally told NYT.

In an earlier report by The Guardian, it stated that anonymous crew members who worked on Megalopolis said that Coppola misbehaved with them.

“Several sources also felt that Coppola could be ‘old school’ in his behaviour around women. He allegedly pulled women to sit on his lap, for example. And during one bacchanalian nightclub scene being shot for the film, witnesses say, Coppola came on to the set and tried to kiss some of the topless and scantily clad female extras,” The Guardian reported.
