Despite Max hiking prices for its ad-free plans this week, the streamer has unrolled a limited-time free trial to lock in new subscribers. Max is currently offering a 7-day free trial from June 6 through June 23 — just in time for the new season of “House of the Dragon,” which returns for Season 2 on June 16.

Once the free trial resumes, Max will go back to its regular monthly price. The Max ad-supported version’s price is unchanged at $9.99/month or $99.99/year, while Max’s ad-free tier in the U.S. has risen by $1 and is now $16.99/ month, and the annual plan is $169.99. The “ultimate” ad-free tier is now $20.99 per month, and by $10 per year, bringing the new annual cost to $209.99.

There’s never been a better time to add a Max subscription to your streaming arsenal. Max has an exciting lineup of can’t-miss new releases for the rest of 2024, including the second season of the beloved “House of the Dragon.” The fantasy drama series, based on author George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood,” which details the history of House Targaryen, will feature returning castmembers such as Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Ewan Mitchell and more.

Returning favorites this year also included the final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “My Brilliant Friend,” “Industry,” and “We’re Here,” plus Max Originals “Hacks,” “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School,” “Tokyo Vice,” “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” and “Sort Of.”

The free trial on Max’s annual plans is available through June 23 in the U.S. The offer is available to new customers Max.com.
