A Disneyland employee died of her injuries Friday after falling from a moving golf cart at the theme park two days prior.
Anaheim Police and Anaheim Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the resort Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. to the area of West Ball Road and South West Street in response to a collision that occurred backstage, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The employee, later identified by the Orange Country Coroner Division as 60-year-old Bonnye Mavis Lear, struck her head after falling from the golf cart and was taken to a local hospital in grave condition Wednesday. Lear, a Fullerton resident, died Friday after being hospitalized for severe head trauma.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye, and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Disneyland Resort president Ken Potrock said in a statement. “At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”
Lear, who worked at the Disneyland Resort for 24 years, most recently supported membership services at Club 33, a private dining club located in the New Orleans Square area of the theme park. The club, inspired by VIP lounges at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, is located above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and opened in 1967.
Anaheim Police are continuing to investigate the collision.
