Rapper Kendrick Lamar inspires students with empowering speech at Compton College first appearance after Drake diss tracks – MASHAHER

Kendrick Lamar made a surprise appearance at the Compton College commencement ceremony, delivering an inspiring speech to the 2024 graduates. The Pulitzer-winning artist, known for his hit ‘HUMBLE,’ emphasised the significance of his hometown, Compton, California. This is Kendrick’s first public appearance after he released his diss tracks against Drake.

Lamar said, “Here is not only a representation of the world, but it’s a representation of me.” His speech resonated deeply with the audience as he praised Compton for producing incredible individuals and urged the younger generation to take control of today’s narrative.

He said, “Some people tell us, this generation don’t have what it takes. They wrong though. You know why? Because not only y’all have what it takes, but y’all have something even bigger. Y’all have the heart.Y’all have the courage to be independent thinkersâ€æ There’s nothing more valuable than that.”

Lamar encouraged the graduates to be independent thinkers and to apply what they have learned. He concluded, “This degree that y’all have right here is just as big as any degree. It’s all about taking these resources and taking what you learned and applying them. It’s simple as that.”

Compton College, founded in 1927, is a public community college in California. Lamar also announced a unique concert, ‘The Pop Out—Ken And Friends,’ set for July 19 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The event will be streamed live on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch at 4 pm PT, coinciding with Black Music Month celebrations.
