The highly anticipated action movie Kill, backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, is set to hit Indian theatres on July 5. This marks a significant departure from Johar’s usual brand of romantic comedies and family dramas and has generated considerable buzz for its gritty storyline and brutal action sequences. The film marks the debut of Lakshya and will also star Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala.

Karan Johar has been sharing a series of posters featuring the film’s lead actor Lakshya and the villain Raghav. Johar declared, “It’s vengeance unleashed…with these two powerhouses!!! #KILLTrailer OUT TOMORROW! India theatrical release – 5th July. Warning: This film contains violent content which may be intense and disturbing for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.”
Sharing a motion poster, he added, “It’s a one-way journey to pure mayhem!!!!” Karan went on to drop several posters of Lakshya as the trailer date is set for June 12, 2024. Lakshya Lalwani, Raghav Juyal, Tanya Maniktala, director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain will be attending the launch.
Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill marks Lakshya Lalwani’s debut in a lead role. The film has already garnered positive reviews at prestigious film festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Fantastic Fest
Joining Johar as co-producers are Guneet Monga Kapoor, Apoorva Mehta, and Achin Jain. South Korean action choreographer Se-Yeong Oh, known for his work on the critically acclaimed film Snowpiercer, was brought in to design the intricate fight sequences.
In the film, star-crossed lovers Tulika (Maniktala) and Amrit (Lakshya) find their clandestine relationship jeopardized after Tulika’s family whisks her aboard the Rajdhani Express bound for New Delhi for an arranged marriage. But commandos, Amrit and his friend are far from willing to let fate dictate their story. They embark on a “rescue” mission that becomes a gory adventure. Blurring the lines between duty and emotion as every twist of the track could mean life or death, Kill is expected to paint a portrait of how far a man can go in love to rewrite his destiny.
Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) has acquired the North American and U.K. rights to Kill. This deal marks the first time wherein an Indian production has partnered with a Hollywood studio on a theatrical release in North America and the U.K. for a mainstream Hindi language film.
