Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto needs surgery on his right knee and is headed to the injured list.
The Phillies announced the news on Tuesday. He’s scheduled to undergo a meniscectomy on Wednesday. A timeline for his recovery and return wasn’t initially clear.
Per the Phillies: J.T. Realmuto has been placed on the 10-day IL (retro to 6/10) with right knee pain. To fill his spot on active roster, catcher Rafael Marchán was recalled from triple A.
