Veteran actress Farida Jalal, recently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, opened up about her experience of working with Dharma Productions. Jalal expressed her admiration for the late Yash Johar, Dharma Productions’ founder. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she recalled his appreciation for her talent, stating, “He’d call me up and say, ‘We write your character even before we’ve decided where to go with the protagonist’.”

However, Jalal’s comments regarding Karan Johar, Yash Johar’s son and current Dharma head, hinted at a perceived change in their relationship. She stated, “I don’t know what he’s like nowadays, loyalties shift very fast.” She also pointed out that she hasn’t been offered roles in Dharma productions recently, despite their past closeness.

The veteran actress reminisced about her involvement in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which she considers Karan Johar’s best film. She described his dedication to the project, elaborating, “He would write each and every word, every scene himself. I cried when he narrated the film to me.”
Speaking of the professional front, Farida Jalal recently made headlines after appearing in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. She is set to star in Ahmed Khan’s upcoming comedy film Welcome To The Jungle. The film is slated for a theatrical release in December 2024.
