Australia have left out Mitchell Starc for their T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match against Gerhard Erasmus’ Namibia on Wednesday, June 12 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Mitchell Marsh and Co, instead, roped in Nathan Ellis, who has 26 wickets to his name from 15 T20Is at an economy rate of 7.92.
The Aussies might have rested Starc to make sure that he doesn’t get worn out due to fatigue before the all-important Super 8 matches. As far as the Super 8s are concerned, if Australia beat Namibia, they will be through to the next round.
Starc made an impressive start to their campaign after he finished with figures of 3-0-20-2 against Oman at the Bridgetown in Barbados. He got the wicket of opening batter Pratik Athavale and Khalid Kail respectively.

However, Starc struggled a wee bit against Jos Buttler’s England at the same venue. The left-arm seamer did not finish his quota and finished with figures of 3-0-37-0.
Namibia, in the meantime, made three changes to their line-up. They roped in Michael van Lingen, Jack Brassell and Ben Shikongo, leaving out JP Kotze, Malan Kruger and Tangeni Lungameni.
Namibia began with a victory against Oman in a game that went right down to the Super Over. However, they slumped to a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of Scotland. Placed third in the table, they will look to keep themselves alive in the competition.
