Incoming Qantas chair John Mullen has signalled more targeted funding of social causes, claiming corporate Australia’s image was hurt by funding the failed Voice referendum campaign.
In a veiled crack at departing Qantas chair Richard Goyder’s and former chief executive Alan Joyce’s supporting the Voice and same-sex marriage vote with shareholder funds, Mr Mullen said company leaders should find the right balance between investor returns and “greater stakeholder involvement”.
