In a sense, there’s not a whole lot more the Saints could have done there — of the Lions seven goals for the quarter, five came from marks inside 50, and four of those were contested.
So it’s a combination of the Lions moving the ball quickly, and being a bit too good in the air.
Far from last week’s slugfest against the Suns, a blowout could be on the cards here.
That’s despite the Saints dominating the clearance count a staggering 13 to 1 for the quarter, with Lachie Neale almost entirely shut out of the contest. So the Lions are generating almost all of their attacks from turnover.
