At least five people were seriously injured after a speeding car rammed pedestrians and roadside stalls in Maharashtra’s Nagpur on Saturday afternoon. The accident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
Police have arrested the car driver, Mangesh Gomase, who is reportedly a BJP worker. A medical test is being conducted to determine if he was drunk at the time of the accident.
The video shows a speeding Skoda ramming roadside stalls and pedestrians near the city’s KDK College, leaving five of them seriously injured. The driver was pulled out of the car and thrashed by people at the scene.
The injured, meanwhile, were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Notably, a few days ago, another accident was reported in Nagpur when a young man driving a car under the influence of alcohol, seriously injured a woman and her three-month-old daughter.
