A traffic constable in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur was sent to police lines after a video of him misbehaving with a car driver went viral on social media.
The car driver, stuck in a traffic jam on a highway, had reportedly honked at the traffic cop’s vehicle, which left him furious.
A video shows the constable getting out of his vehicle and slapping the man from across the latter’s car window. The cop also allegedly abused the man before getting back to his vehicle.
The video of the incident spread widely on social media, prompting the police to take action. A press note from the police stated that the constable was taken off his duty, sent to police lines and an investigation was taken up.
Based on the findings, appropriate legal action will be taken, they said.
