Amazon MGM Studios has given a pilot order to “The Nightbeast,” a horror comedy starring Tatiana Maslany.
In “The Nightbeast,” per the official logline, “a young mother unsatisfied with her seemingly perfect suburban life begins an affair with the boogeyman in her son’s closet — a surprisingly sexy man called the Nightbeast. But this harmless affair she thought to be a figment of her imagination begins to have unexpected consequences, as her two worlds increasingly begin to collide in this seductive, darkly comedic tale.”
Leah Rachel and Travis Jackson serve as creators of “The Nightbeast” Executive producers include Peter Warren; Justin Levy, Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range Studios’ Station26; Kristen Campo for Campout; and Jamie Babbit, who also serves as director. Maslany serves as a producer in addition to starring.
If ordered to series, “The Nightbeast” will likely stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Maslany is best known for leading Canadian sci-fi series “Orphan Black” in multiple roles. The series ran for five seasons from 2013 to 2017 with a spinoff titled “Orphan Black: Echoes” set to premiere on June 24. Maslany also played the title role in the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” Her other prominent credits include “Heartland,” “Perry Mason,” “Destroyer” and “The Other Half.”
Rachel is best known for creating the horror series “Chambers,” which ran on Netflix for one season in 2019. Jackson, Rachel’s partner, served as a writer and co-producer on the series, which starred Nicholas Galitzine, Tony Goldwyn and Uma Thurman.
