Estonia vs Cyprus, Sahil Chauhan scores fastest century in T20 history, records, video, highlights – MASHAHER

Estonian cricketer Sahil Chauhan has shattered the record for fastest century in T20s, achieving the feat during Monday’s six-wicket victory over Cyprus in Episkopi.

The 32-year-old, playing his fourth T20I, reached triple figures in just 27 deliveries at Happy Valley Ground, finishing unbeaten on 144.

Chauhan smacked 18 sixes during his 41-ball onslaught, also a record in T20Is, helping Estonia chase the 192-run target with 42 deliveries to spare.

The previous fastest century in T20Is was 33 balls, achieved by Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton while facing Nepal earlier this year.

Chauhan also bettered Chris Gayle’s record for quickest hundred in men’s T20s, with the West Indies icon passing the milestone in 30 deliveries during an Indian Premier League match against the Pune Warriors in 2013.

“Love this man — huge talent, but the most humble, caring, listening, hard-working cricketer you could ever wish to work with.

“No one more deserving of this than Sahil Chauhan.”

Incredibly, Chauhan was dismissed for a golden duck during Estonia’s series opener against Cyprus, which occurred earlier in the day at the same venue.

Estonia leads the six-match bilateral series 2-0, with the third game set to get underway on Tuesday.
