NBCUniversal Renews ‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘Access Daily’ – MASHAHER


NBCUniversal has renewed entertainment news strip “Access Hollywood” and its companion “Access Daily with Mario & Kit” for two additional seasons, through 2026.

“We’re thrilled to continue our successful partnership with the NBC-owned stations, bringing the ‘Access’ brand to local stations for additional seasons,” said Tracie Wilson, vice president of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios and E! News. “Our talented hosts have incredible chemistry and our seasoned production team works tirelessly to bring viewers quality content each day on ‘Access Hollywood ‘and ‘Access Daily.’”

PROGRAMMING

Free ad-supported streaming platform The Network (“The Green Veil”) will launch two new docuseries currently in production, “The Debt Trap” and “Flat Earthers.”

“The Debt Trap” is an eight-part docuseries exploring the student loan crisis in America. Wall Street Journal Reporter Josh Mitchell serves as executive producer. “Flat Earthers” is a 10-episode reality-docuseries hybrid following a group of flat earthers competing to prove the Earth is flat.

MTV’s “Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets” will premiere on Tuesday, July 23, at 9 p.m. ET. Participants this season include singer Macy Gray, actor Chet Hanks, TV personality Kim Zolciak, rapper O.T. Genasis, singer Ally Brooke, figure skater Johnny Weir, model Josie Canseco and actor Tyler Posey. “Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets” is executive produced by Adam Gonzalez for A Game Productions with MTV Entertainment Studios and by Samuel Duque for Telecolombia International Studios. For MTV Entertainment Studios, executive producers include Tolani Holmes, Elena Diaz and Camilo Valdes, with Matthew Parillo and Angela Liao as executives in charge of production.

RENEWALS

“Masterpiece on PBS” has extended the British mystery-drama “Granchester” for a 10th season. Production is scheduled to begin in July.

Series leads Robson Green and Rishi Nair will both reprise their roles as DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Alphy Kottaram, respectively. Other returning cast members include Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott.

Daisy Coulam serves as writer and executive producer with Susanne Simpson and Emma Kingsman-Lloyd. Grantchester is a Co-Production of Kudos (a Banijay UK Company) and Masterpiece for ITV. It airs on “Masterpiece on PBS” in the U.S. and on ITV1 and ITVX in the U.K.

TRAILERS/FIRST LOOKS

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its new Spanish-language crime drama “Women in Blue” (“Las Azules”), which will hit the streamer with a global two-episode premiere Sept. 25.

According to an official logline, “‘Women in Blue’ tells the story of four women who defy the ultra-conservative norms of the time and join Mexico’s first female police force, only to discover that their squad is a publicity stunt to distract the media from a brutal serial killer.”

Cast members include Bárbara Mori, Amorita Rasgado, Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan and Horacio García Rojas.

“Women in Blue” was created by Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi. Wendy Riss, Erica Sanchez Su, Sandra Solares and Billy Rovzar serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Lemon Studios.

PARTNERSHIPS

Domino’s will serve as the marquee sponsor for the History Channel’s original documentary “Triumph: Jesse Owens and the Berlin Olympics,” A+E Networks announced in partnership with GroupM Motion Entertainment’s Diverse Voices Accelerator.

The documentary, set to premiere June 19 at 8pm ET/PT, follows Jesse Owens’ triumph over Nazi Germany during the 1936 Berlin Olympics and narrated by actor Don Cheadle. LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s athlete storytelling brand UNINTERRUPTED and Cinemation Studios executive produced “Triumph: Jesse Owens and the Berlin Olympics” in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment.

One year before the Berlin Olympics, Owens broke four world records within 45 minutes at a Big Ten track meet at the University of Michigan’s Ferry Field. Ann Arbor-based Domino’s honors Owens’ athleticism in connection with his feat in 1935.

PODCASTS

USG Audio has launched the podcast “The Confessions of Anthony Raimondi,” from “The Jinx” producer Marc Smerling (who hosts). According to the logline, “The podcast follows the story of a member of a Brooklyn crime family, Anthony Raimondi, and uncovers some of his darkest secrets and his involvement with the mafia – from his relationships with gangsters to his alleged involvement in the murder of Pope John Paul I.”

The first two episodes were set to post on June 18, with new episodes every week after that. Executive Producers are Josh Bloch from USG Audio, Marc Smerling from Truth Media, and Naomi Harvey & Jamie Cohen from Clockwork Films. “The Confessions of Anthony Raimondi” is produced by Truth Media and USG Audio, a division of Universal Studio Group in association with Clockwork Films.
