Appliances are often a major investment, so it’s best to avoid unreliable brands that break often or simply stop working before they should. To determine the least reliable appliance brands, Consumer Reports collected survey data on over 400,000 kitchen and laundry appliances purchased new between 2013 and 2023.

Based on the survey data, these five appliance brands are the least reliable and therefore not worth your money.
Asko
Asko’s dishwashers and dryers received average reliability scores, but its washing machines were rated below average for reliability.

Jenn-Air
Jenn-Air’s product offerings include refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, cooktops, electric wall ovens and microwaves. While its refrigerators, dishwashers and ranges received average reliability scores, its cooktops, electric wall ovens and microwaves were all rated as below average for reliability.
In fact, its wall ovens were rated as the least reliable among all of those included in the survey.

Electrolux
Electrolux’s over-the-range microwaves received the worst reliability score among all of the brands included in the survey, and its dishwashers are also among the least reliable.
Dacor
Dacor’s appliance offerings include dishwashers, ranges, cooktops, electric wall ovens and over-the-range microwaves. Its pro-style ranges were ranked dead last for reliability, and its wall ovens were rated among the least reliable.
Viking
Viking’s dishwashers, ranges and electric wall ovens all received below-average scores. It was ranked the least-reliable dishwasher brand overall.
