With Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar taking the social media by storm with audiences being mesmerized by the captivating sets, ethereal costumes and some strong performances, Sanjeeda Shaikh decided to share some more precious memories from the web-show. The actress, who played the key role of Waheedajaan in the period drama, received lots of love from audiences for her character with grey shades and now, the actress decided to showcase a sneak peek into how Waheeda became a key character on the show.

For the unversed, Waheedajan is a courtesan, who is pressured under the thumb of Mallikajaan, her sister and caught in the crossfire between power struggles and vengeance between her elder sibling and her equally manipulative niece Fareedan. Recalling her Heeramandi memories, Sanjeeda Shaikh decided to treat audiences to some unseen photos of her character from the sets, and captioned it saying, “Aapki Waheeda”.

While her first look had garnered much intrigue owing to the scar on her face, soon audiences witnessed the reason behind it and as the series progressed it became a part of Waheeda, which audiences seem to have come to love. Showering appreciation on the actress, a fan wrote, “Waheeda was such a star. Her quest for love, unfulfilled desires, longing for love, aspiring for the throne, a tale of betrayal, her poise, scheming and plotting, you were such a treat. Waheeda lives on.” Another one added, “You were excellent in Heeramandi! Simply superb! Your looks, costumes, acting, grace, expressions-everything was first-rate.”
About Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar
The first season of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali web-series is set against the backdrop of pre-Independence era when courtesans ruled the lives and hearts of Nawabs of Lahore. The show featured Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal and Richa Chadha as the prime characters along with Shekhar Suman, Taha Shah Badussha, Fardeen Khan in key roles. Post the grand success of the show, the makers, namely Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Netflix have announced a season two of the series but if the characters will be retained or no, is yet to be known.
