Suriya is all set to produce the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, Sarfira by collaborating with Akshay Kumar who also plays the leading man in this biographical entertainer. Based on the challenges and struggles of Captain Gopinath who started Air Deccan, India’s first affordable airline, the film’s trailer was unveiled earlier this week and it seems to have received appreciation from the man of the hour – Gopinath himself.

On Tuesday, as Suriya, who is the co-producer of Sarfira, unveiled the trailer on several platforms, he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to dedicate it to Captain Gopinath who was the inspiration behind the film. He wrote in the caption, “This is our respect to @CaptGopinath sir, who inspired millions of Indians and thank you @akshaykumar sir for taking @Sudha_Kongara’s story across our country and beyond! Proudly presenting the trailer of #Sarfira”. Responding to it, Gopinath also shared his opinion on the trailer of the film, and said, “Thank you Suriya. What a hair rising trailer. Akshay will blaze a scorching new trail in the new Hindi original as you did in Tamil. As the poet said“Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,Or what’s a heaven for?” Big salute to Sudha and Vikram and team”.

Post that, he also went on to pen different notes for the leading men of Sarfira and Soorarai Pottru – Akshay Kumar and Suriya. In one of the notes, addressing to the Tamil superstar-producer, he added, “Tk you Suriya. You raised the bar to impossible heights in Sorarai Potru tough to beat! And Akshay will blaze his own new trail to inspire the new gen. Big salute to Sudha Kongara, Vikram and team. What a show! “Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, Or what’s a heaven for”.

Also starring Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan, Seema Biswas, among others in key roles, the film is presented by Abundantia Entertainment and Cape Of Good Films. Directed by National award-winning director Sudha Kongara, it is produced by Aruna Bhatia, Jyothika, Suriya, and Vikram Malhotra and is slated for release in cinemas on July 12.
