Just Stop Oil spokesman shut down in heated row over latest stunt: 'People are fed up of you!' – MASHAHER

Just Stop Oil Spokesman Adrian Johnson has defended the climate group’s string of protests this week, as protesters broke into London Stansted Airport to spray private jets with paint.

This follows another demonstration by the group at Stonehenge, where another two members of Just Stop Oil sprayed the historic monument with orange cornflour paint.

The latest protest, which was an attempt to target pop star Taylor Swift’s private jet, was defended by the group in a statement, which claimed that we are “living in two worlds: one where billionaires live in luxury, able to fly in private jets away from the other, where unliveable conditions are being imposed on countless millions”.

Although Swift’s jet was confirmed to have not been on the airfield at the time of the protest, Essex Police confirmed that the two demonstrators, 22-year-old Cole Macdonald and 28-year-old Jennifer Kowalski, were arrested.

Speaking to host Camilla Tominey on GB News, Just Stop Oil spokesman Adrian Johnson defended the “massive security breach” and claimed the real breach is “from our own Government pursuing policies that are leading to mass death and suffering”.

Camilla questioned Johnson on how “criminal damage” can be justified by the group, as he argued that it is “what we need to do to take action against our Government”.

Camilla then fumed: “No you don’t. You’re losing the argument because what’s happening is no one’s talking about the cause anymore. People are just talking about how annoying Just Stop Oil are, and how you’ve crossed the Rubicon from peaceful and acceptable protest to criminal damage.

“So no one’s talking about the climate, they’re absolutely fed up of you!”

Camilla added: “You’re getting the publicity, but no one’s talking about what you really want them to talk about, which is the climate emergency. They’re just thinking to themselves, ‘Why don’t Just Stop Oil, just stop?”

Johnson remained in defence of the latest protests, claiming that the demonstrations have “sparked conversations about climate in the last 24 hours”.

Johnson told GB News: “With respect, people have been talking about the climate over the last 24 hours because of the action that we’ve taken.

“The line that we will never cross is that line of taking violent action. We believe and we fully support nonviolent action. That does include criminal action, but that falls under the banner of civil disobedience.”

Camilla then highlighted the protest at Stonehenge, Camilla questioned Johnson on what targeting such a historical site has to do with their cause.

Johnson responded: “When we look at Stonehenge, we see a beautiful monument, and it’s a celebration of 5,000 years of human achievement and 5,000 years of civilisation that has flourished because we have had, up until this point, a stable climate.

“And Camilla, that 5,000 years is about to come to. It’s about to be obliterated unless we take action.”

When grilled on why Just Stop Oil hasn’t “taken their protests to the Chinese Embassy”, Johnson claimed that the UK “produces the same emissions per person as China”.

He added: “I’m not sure what our plans are next to be perfectly honest, but China’s emissions per person are exactly the same as the emissions per person in the United Kingdom.

“And that’s for a nation that makes most of the stuff that we buy and import.”
