Local council told to prioritise upgrades to Seremban Lake Gardens facilities – MASHAHER

SEREMBAN: The Seremban City Council (MBS) has been told to prioritise upgrading facilities at the iconic Lake Gardens here, says state local government development committee chairman J. Arul Kumar.

Arul, who also holds the housing and transport committee portfolios, said this has to be made a priority in the council’s budget for next year as some areas in the Lake Gardens were poorly managed and needed a new image.

“This is important to protect the image of Seremban as the Lake Gardens is located right in the heart of the city.

“MBS needs to get an allocation from the state government or the Housing and Local Government Ministry for upgrading work and to give the area a new image,” he said.

Arul said he is also aware of concerns raised by social media users on the run-down facilities and poor landscape at the Lake Gardens.

“Many people come here in the mornings as well as in the evenings to exercise or unwind.

“We need to ensure the entire area including the lake, landscape, jogging and walking tracks and other facilities are maintained and always in good condition,”he said.

Arul added that he had also visited the area with local councillors to have a first-hand look following complaints raised by social media users.

For the longer term, Arul said MBS should consider bringing back more community-based activities in the area as was done at Nilai Square.
