Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who recently appeared in the series Bad Cop, has addressed ongoing misunderstandings with actors Abhay Deol and Pankaj Jha.

While promoting Bad Cop, Anurag spoke candidly about his strained relationship with Abhay Deol, who starred in his critically successful 2009 film Dev D. Anurag alleged a lack of communication and support from Abhay after the film’s release.
“I haven’t met Abhay since filming Dev D,” Kashyap revealed in an interview with Janice Sequeira. “He didn’t participate in promotions and hasn’t spoken to me since. If he wants to call me toxic, that’s his perspective. But the truth can’t be said. If I speak the truth, he won’t be able to show his face.”
Kashyap hinted at a deeper issue but refrained from elaborating, suggesting it would negatively portray Deol.
Misunderstanding with Pankaj Jha
Kashyap also addressed the controversy surrounding Pankaj Jha being replaced by Pankaj Tripathi in Gangs of Wasseypur. Jha had previously expressed disappointment about not being informed of the recasting.
Kashyap clarified, “With Pankaj Jha, it seems like a misunderstanding. So much time has passed. I recall Pankaj joining the Osho ashram and focusing on painting, not acting. I wanted him for the role, but he disappeared. With a tight budget, I had to find someone quickly, and Pankaj Tripathi was cast at the last minute. It’s simple.”
Kashyap expressed confusion about Jha’s recent discontent, stating, “I hear Pankaj is upset after 14 years. Why now? He should have addressed it then. In my mind, he had left acting. I didn’t know he returned with Panchayat. I have no clue why he’s upset.”
Speaking of the professional front, as mentioned above, Anurag was recently seen in Bad Cop, a Disney+ Hotstar series.
