SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here fixed July 19 to hear the outcome of a representation filed by two staff members of a private drug rehabilitation centre charged with causing grievous hurt to a male trainee.
Judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi said this after counsel for both the accused, Patrick Samuel, told the court his clients wished to do so when the case came up for remention on Friday (June 21).
Jason Jai Ganesh Murugiah, 48, who is a supervisor, and Kelvin Raymond, 26, an assistant, had on March 26 pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous hurt to V. Vasanthakumar, 38, with a PVC pipe at a centre in Lenggeng.
They were jointly charged with committing the offence at around 11am on March 19.
The duo were charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same legislation.
Offenders can be jailed for up to 20 years and be whipped or fined.
However, they retracted their plea when they were about to be sentenced on April 30.
