(Reuters) – Scotland full back Kieran Tierney’s participation at the European Championship came to a premature end when the team confirmed on Friday that he was returning home with an injury.
Tierney injured his hamstring in Scotland’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland. The left back he was involved in a tussle with Dan Ndoye at the hour-mark and the 27-year-old immediately signalled to the dugout before he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
“Kieran leaves camp due to injury and will return to Arsenal for further assessment,” Scotland said in a statement.
Scotland are third in Group A, three points behind the second-placed Swiss. They play bottom side Hungary in their final group game on Sunday.
