PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Cheam June Wei has booked his spot in the final of the Taiwan Masters.
June Wei stayed steady to come out on top over home qualifier Cheng Kai 21-12, 21-17 in the last four of the World Tour Super 100 competition on Saturday (June 22).
The world No. 61 professional player has now made it into his first title match since finishing runners-up to fellow Malaysian Leong Jun Hao in the 2022 Indonesian Masters.
Standing in June Wei’s way in the final will be either another homester, world No. 21 Wang Tzu-wei or the latter’s teammate, world No. 31 Lee Chia-hao.
The 27-year-old June Wei will be out to end his World Tour title drought after also finishing second best in the 2018 Dutch Open.
