In a private function in Mumbai, the Winners of Worthiness (WOW) proudly presented the Pride of India Award to the most celebrated , the iconic Dream Girl, Padmashri Hema Malini. This prestigious award was conferred upon her by Shobha Arya, the CEO of WOW Entertainments, and the distinguished Indian author Rhythm Wagholikar, who is renowned for his insightful writings on legends of the art and film world.

At the event, Hema Malini shared her extensive knowledge and contributions to Indian classical dance, particularly Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Mohiniattam and Kuchipudi. She enlightened everyone with her insights on these dance forms, explaining the intricacies and her passion for them. Hema Malini also talked about her famous dance performances, which often last about 100 minutes, showcasing Indian mythological stories like Ganga, Durga, Meera, and many others. These performances have been celebrated both in India and internationally, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the country.
The event also featured Shobha Arya, whose conversations added a delightful touch to the afternoon, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.

Rhythm’s wife gifted Hema Malini a book titled ‘Strokes of Harmony,’ which features paintings by the Usha Mangeshkar family, including works by Lata Ji and mainly Usha Mangeshkar Ji. Hema Malini showed keen interest in each painting, analyzing the color themes and the different types of art included—sketches, crayons, oil, and more. Despite her age, she could narrate and appreciate the nuances of each artwork beautifully, sharing insights with Anuja, who is a painter herself.
Her respect for her co-workers and other legends of the art and film world is evident, and this is something Rhythm deeply admires. There is a calm and composed nature in her that puts everyone at ease. She has valuable inputs on every topic and possesses answers to all questions. Above all, she is a fantastic person. Her knowledge of dance is unmatched. Her ability to bring dramas to life through dance, with performances like Ganga, Meera, Ramayana, Radha Krishna, Durga and other mythological elements is incredible’ added Rhythm.
When she learned that Rhythm is a writer, Hema Malini gifted him her famous coffee table book, ‘Chal Mana Vrindavan’. She took a deep interest in explaining some of the photographs, detailing what makes Mathura a place of pure sanctity, innate culture, and deep history. Her knowledge of Mathura, including the small details of its streets and history, is astounding.
After the award ceremony, the actress personally came to offer sweets to everyone, including the house help who were present there. This act of humility and her down-to-earth nature are truly inspiring.
