Kill, the highly anticipated action thriller directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, is set to release in theatres on July 5, 2024. Starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala, this film has already generated significant buzz. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga Kapoor’s Sikhya Entertainment, Kill promises to deliver intense and violent action sequences that have captivated audiences from the trailer alone. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Lakshya revealed that the makers of the film had told him and Raghav to not meet each other before they began the shoot.
EXCLUSIVE: Lakshya and Raghav Juyal did not interact with each other before Kill shoot: “Our director told us not to meet each other. He and I were training separately”
An unusual approach to building on-screen chemistry unfolded during the filming of Kill. Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat had a specific vision: for the characters to have minimal interaction, he kept the actors completely separate. “We were cast already,” Lakshya explained, “but our director told us not to meet each other at all. He didn’t want us to interact.” This meant separate training regimes and a strict no-meeting policy.
Humorously, fate intervened. “Our producer Guneet Monga had a puja at her home,” Raghav recalls with a laugh. Lakshya, committed to staying in character, added, “I met him there, but I didn’t interact. I’m a sincere guy, right? He walks towards me and says, ‘Hey Lakshya!’ and I thought, ‘He’s getting over-friendly!’”
Despite the initial awkwardness, the encounter sparked a connection. Raghav described, “Now we meet so often, it’s amazing.”
Did the lack of interaction translate into genuine onscreen tension, or did their eventual camaraderie create a different kind of chemistry? The audience will have to wait and see when Kill hits the theatres.
Kill tells the story of a commando (Lakshya) who hops onto a train to reunite with his girlfriend (Tanya Maniktala) before she is married off by her parents to someone else. But the train gets captured by a group of bad guys and now he is forced to fight.
Produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, Kill will be released in theatres on July 5.
