The Gold Coast Suns face their biggest home challenge of the season in the form of Collingwood on Saturday at People First Stadium.

The Suns (7-7, 105.5%) are undefeated in seven home games — five in Carrara and two in Darwin — this season in contradictory home-and-away form.

On the other side of the ledger, the Magpies (8-4-2, 107.3%) are fresh off their second bye, having scraped by North Melbourne in Round 14.

The Suns are yet to fall at People First Stadium in 2024, having toppled Richmond, Adelaide, Hawthorn, West Coast and Essendon — but this Collingwood outfit, with a host of returning stars in tow, presents the biggest test for Damien Hardwick’s burgeoning brigade.

For Craig McRae’s Pies, Scott Pendlebury, Jordan De Goey, Brody Mihocek, Oleg Markov and Joe Richards were recalled at selection in place of Charlie Dean (Omitted), Finlay Macrae (Omitted), Lachie Schultz (Illness), Reef McInnes (Omitted) and Tew Jiath (Omitted).

Conversely, the Suns made just two changes; recalling Ben King and Nick Holman for Jake Rogers (Omitted) and Brandon Ellis (Injured).

Collingwood is 6-2 all-time (2-0 since 2020) against Gold Coast in Carrara.

The game gets underway at 4:35pm from People First Stadium.

Watch it live on Fox Footy (channel 504), streaming on Kayo and via Hubbl from 4:30pm.

GOLD COAST v COLLINGWOOD – LIVE UPDATES

There were no late changes for either side, with Bailey Humphrey (Gold Coast) and Joe Richards (Collingwood) named the starting subs.

Gold Coast kicked the opener after Nick Holman drew a 50m penalty on Jack Crisp before Ben King added another in a hot Suns start.

King kicked his second goal within the opening minutes of the game as Fox Footy pundits pondered whether the Pies should switch Darcy Moore onto him instead of Billy Frampton.

Brody Mihoek started hot in his first game back with two first quarter goals, while the returning Jordan De Goey was also busy further up the ground.

Will Hoskin-Elliot got on the end of another goal from a slingshot play, with hawks legend Jordan Lewis noting the visitors were “as open as I’ve seen a side this year from that play,” questioning if Gold Coast needed to tweak its defensive structure.

The Pies led 4.3 (27) to 4.2 (26) at quarter-time.

In one of the plays of the game, Jarrod Witts perfectly crafted a ruck tap to the running Ben Long for the opening goal of the second quarter to give Gold Coast the lead.

The Suns were on top in general play in the second term to constantly put Collingwood under pressure.

Alex Sexton collided into Jack Crisp in a huge hip and shoulder in the second term.

Meanwhile Brayden Maynard and Mac Andrew got into it in the second term with some chirpy by-play.

The Suns dominated territory in the second term and finally got reward as Jack Lukosius kicked a scrappy goal deep in the forward line to give them a 15-point lead.
